THE PROGRAM
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction
HD Frequency is a powerful program that allows you to create tunes based on
a fourtrack HD-sequencer. This means that you can create long long tunes, if
you have enough space on your hard disk left.
Remember that this is only a cut down version of the original package, so
many features are disabled:
Limitations on this demo version:
- Cut function disabled
- Echo function disabled
- Dalex function disabled
- Phase function disabled
- The maximum Sampling Rate is about 22 Khz
- The Sequencer is limited to 9 entries
You can purchase a complete version sending a fee of $30 US or 50 DM to
(Cash, euro cheque, postal orders ......)

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF ALL FUNCTIONS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RECORD
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this demo version the sampling rate is limited to 22 khz. The original
version manages sampling rates from 32 khz on standard a500 upto over 60 khz
on a standard a1200.
First choose a name for your sample, then the sample rate.
Now press the record button. Now the VU meter shows the signal coming
through the sampler. Now you can watch the input on the VU meter to get the
best record level. You have the best input level if you have nearly no
black peaks above the VU meter in the overpeak boxes.
Now press the right mouse button to record the sample on hd.
If your hd is to slow for a special sampling rate the program will let you
know.
Press the left mouse button to stop sampling.
The sample is saved as a standard iff8SVX Sample.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REPLAY
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Samples are shown in the big sample area on the bottom of the screen.
If you want to replay a recorded sample. You can use the play button.
The sample will now be replayed by DMA. You can also cue forward or backward
while the sample is beeing played (ffwd. and rwed. buttons).
To stop playing the sample press the stop button.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HQ-REPLAY
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is another method of replaying a sample. This routine replays a sample
using cpu routines, dma is not used, therefore sampling rates upto 65 khz can
be handled by this routine. The quality of this routine is much better than
any other dma routine.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDITING SAMPLES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If a sample has been loaded you can edit it on the sample screen.
MARK
You can mark a part of the sample by pressing the left mouse button on the
sample screen and releasing it somewhere else on the sample screen.
ZOOM
You can zoom into the sample by pressing RANGE if a mark has been picked before.
You can move around in the zoomed range by pressing the <,> buttons on the
very bottom of the screen.
SHOW ALL
Show all displayes the whole sample if a sample has been ranged once
before.
FADE UP
If you have marked a sample and you press FADE IN the sample will be faded
from the beginning of the sample untill the first point of the marked range.
FADE DOWN
If you have marked a sample and you press FADE OUT, the sample will be faded
from the last point if the marked range untill the end of the sample.
CUT
A marked range will be cut away from the sample
VOLUME
The sample will change the volume to the selected value.
ECHO
The Sample will be echoed to the selected value
DALEX, PHASER
These commands have both two parameters: The first parameter is located
below the Dalex field. This is the length of the effect. The second
parameter is below the phase button, this is the amplitude of the effect.
To start the effect press one of the buttons.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEQUENCER (PLAYLIST)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This sequencer allows you to create a four track tune.
New items of the playlist have to be selected by using the NEW command,
now you can select any iff 8svx sample.
You can now change the parameters of the selected samples.
Select a sample in the viewlist display. Now you are able to change the tine
when a sample should be started beeing played and you can change the
replaychannel for the sample.
Of cource you can LOAD and SAVE a playlist from the project menu.
Created playlists can be replayed from the main Screen pressing HQ REPLAY.
The HQ Replay routine still uses DMA Acess, that means that samples bigger
than 30876 hz are replayed with 30876 hz. a version that uses cpu replay
routines is coming up in further releases (only >=68020!).

TECHNICALS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This programm written on A1200 with 2 MB Chip, 4 MB Fast & 68882 25 MHZ &
120 MB Connor HD.
Created using ASMOne V1.01 & GadToolsbox v2.0
Tested on:
A500 KS 2.04 1 MB Chip 2 MB Fast, Multi-E. 2.2 85 MB Quantum ELS (ok)
A4000/040 120 MB HD, V 37.129 tested (failed) .....
This version now should work (hopefully), I had no time to test it again..
The Record and HQ-Replay routines take completely over the machine to get
the best quality, so don't care about enforcer hits..
These routines are using some interrupt hacks in supervisor mode, but it is
not possible to code this part of the program in a more accurate way......
